Surface Color Concept

Transparent materials such as glass, monocrystaline sapphire, or silica glass show transparency in a wide spectrum range. Specially sapphire and silica that keep their transparency close to deep UV. In optics for some applications one requires an absorption of selected colours while maintaining mechanical resistance.

Watchmakers are enthusiastic about coloured glass that allows to develop the aesthetic range of their products. RBnano offers inks able to coat and react with surfaces such as glass, sapphire or silica to produce homogenous coloured coatings. Specific pattern can be displayed upon masked surfaces.

RBnano inks can be applied using easy techniques such as soaking spraying, or ink roller enduction. In standard conditions of cleanliness and humidity the wet layer dries in a few seconds.

Annealing of the piece between  400°C and 700°C for glass or  between 800°C and 1200°C for  sapphire or silica is required to  give the desired color. Ink  concentration will determine the  intensity and the final color.

Some coating require to be previously treated in a reducing environment. RBnano HARC coating is designed to stick on these coatings and to enhance transparency and anti-reflective properties. Other colors are available and can be obtained on request.

Key Features:
- coloring of surface which does NOT affect the properties of solid
- color of very high stability
- easy control of the color intensity
-simple, easily manageable process, does not require significant technical skills
-low investment
